Evansville High and the Addams Family.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on February 19, 2014 by chasinthenews

**** This sounds like so  much fun!!    They always put on a awe some show!!

Just announced! Evansville High will be the first high school in the nation to produce The Addams Family! May 1-4, 2014. When Wednesday falls in love with a “normal” boy and invites him and his parents over for dinner, things change for the Addams family and no one seems to know quite what to do about it.

The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in THE ADDAMS FAMILY. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk Award winner Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys), and Olivier Award-winning original directors and designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with direction by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Come meet the family. We’ll leave the lights off for you.

Oh my goodness this thing reads like a soap opera .  Please go to  ‘ Naming School District Facilities and Events.’

They want to name the football field after Ron Grovesteen.    Why?  One of the requirements is exemplary character.    Have we forgotten what a , sexist pig he is?   Then lets not forget about his actions away from school.

Lets not forget he and Brian Cashore got the district sued a few years back because he is a sexist pig and harassed a young , female student.   He did not watch out for her at all during practice and she became injured because of negligence.

Should we talk about his feelings about soccer and those who play it and the comments he has made about those who play soccer?

He surly thinks he is all that, but when was the last time he won a state championship????   Ever???

But its the good old boys club at this district and they will reward his wicked behavior by naming a field after him, some thing he does not deserve.

They are going into closed executive session to discuss personal  history of specific persons  .  Please let it be Ron Grovesteen they are talking about and discussing.   The man supposedly has a personal file 6 inches thick of different complaints against him.      I can not imagine who else they are discussing, but who really knows.

Katy Fisher a teacher at the high school is resigning.   But they want to charge her 500.00 for damages?   For what ?

liquidated damages.?

So Ron Grovesteen is going to coach M.S. boys basketball so he can call them names, as well as the football players.   Nice.

Take a few minutes and go through the packet there is some interesting things in there besides what I pointed out.

Its on the school’s web page under board meetings.    Just click on their link.

Also in the packet you will find.

To anyone who has gone to J.C. McKenna  or stopped into the Junior High.   A long time favorite employee is retiring.  Mrs. Vicki Zhe.    It seems wrong to call her an employee.

Because she is much more than an employee at J.C.McKenna middle school.   She always has a smile and cheery ” hello’  for anyone and everyone who walks through the doors.

She knows each and every child/student by name.  She always has some thing positive to say about everyone.   She has become some one the kids go to when they need some thing as does the staff.    They know Mrs.Zhe will be able to help , or make a suggestion no matter the question or problem is.

Mrs. Zhe congratulations on your retirement.    33 years!!!!   Wow!!!

Some times bad things happen. Some times the bad thing is called Gov.Walker

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 20, 2013 by chasinthenews

Some times bad things happen.   When some thing unfortunate happens in your life what do you do?   Do you pick your self up, dust your self off and decide which path to take to make things o.k. again, to adapt to the changes that have come into your life  or do you sit around complaining and have a nice ” poor me” party.

Over the last several months I  have been asked which side am I on the Union workers (public and teachers) or on Walker’s side/team.

I have made it very clear  I did not originally vote for Gov. Walker.   I signed the recall petition .  I voted against him in the recall election.  Pretty simple.   I will not vote for him when he runs again.   Snoopy could be his opponent and I would not vote for him.

HOW EVER  Gov. Walker’s approval ratings are now at 50%.    I think that’s the highest it’s ever been.

What  I am tired of is the attitude we are finding in our schools.    I DO NOT WANT TEACHERS OR STAFF BITCHING ABOUT ACT 10 TO THE STUDENTS.   MOST parents do not.   Unfortunately that is exactly what is happening.  Students are hearing way to much about the troubles of the teachers and the challenges they are facing.

Over the years I do not how many times I have heard teacher’s  preach  ” some times bad things happen, you have to decide to rise above it.”    or  ” some times you may have to work with some one you do not like, get over it.”    These are just the start of examples of things I have heard some say.    The point being is teachers preach, preach, preach, about adjusting to bad things that happen in your life.

How ever teachers in the Evansville School district are doing a poor job of doing what they preach.    I realize moral is low , but come on it’s been two-year since ACT 10 came into play.   TWO YEARS.

Do you know how many people in the private sector are still not working?  Do know how many people in the private sector have lost benefits completely ?   Have had hours cut?    Have not gotten raises well before this ” recession” ?

So to hear teacher’s still whining and fretting is just old.   They are embarrassing themselves.

They need to pick them selves up, dust them selves off and adapt like everyone has.   They need to follow the advice they give their students.

Maybe down the road ACT 10 will be thrown out all together.     It very well may be.     But it will never go back to where things were.   There is just no un-ringing that bell.

Administration in the E.S.D. could have done a better job with the transition of these changes.     Maybe not telling certain teachers there hours are being cut by more than half during class time.    Certain administrators have been very unprofessional in the Evansville School District.

But it is also very unprofessional of the teacher’s in the Evansville School district to bitch and complain to students, not all teacher’s have done this but too many have.

It’s time to move forward and stop disrupting the education of our students.

I will end with changes in education need to be made but Gov.Walker went about it in the wrong way.

Melissa has some interesting stuff!!

Melissa has posted about the board meeting on Monday night.    She mentions that we are going to get less state aid than what was predicted in July.

I was excited to think they were not getting less money than last year.    I would not want to be the people who try to ” predict” how much money they think they might get.

She also posts about how the school did on the report cards that were released this last week.   I think Evansville needs to be careful not to compare it self to other districts.

It does no one any good to have the line of thought  ” at least we do not suck like the district over there.”      Evansville needs to worry about it self and improving in the areas it  needs to improve in.   The Evansville School district did o.k.,    they did not do great.  DOING GREAT would have been scoring 83% or higher.  They are holding their own.

As for the high school scoring what it did.   They only have one class to worry about.    I would question WHAT happens after these sophomores take the W.K.C.E.  and move on to be Juniors and Seniors.   Who is watching for how well they do then?   They spend so much time getting them ready for the W.K.C.E. in the sophomore year.  What about after then?

So the scoring is really not fair at the high school level as they have one class to get ready,  and the J.C.McKenna has three!!!   So for those at high school really keep your jumping up and down to a low roar as it does not mean much when you have one class.  I bet Mr.Flaherty would only like to have to worry about one class.

Scott Everson should also be thanking those at the Junior High for making his job easier.

I would urge you to read Melissa’s articles in the Evansville Review as she goes into much more detail than on the blog.   As I was reading her article I was going along high lighting things and then what back and read it again.   There is a lot of information in her articles.     She spends a lot of time doing this and for that we thank her.

Majority of school districts to lose aid

How do they decide who loses aid?

Please READ Melissa’s Hammann’s article’s in The Review.. Should Johnny turn in his home work?

I had waited for this week’s paper to come out.   Keep in mind that the Review is not always some thing I buy, but I will buy it to read Melissa’s reports.

I have stated on here before and I will state again, she is the one to be reporting on the school and school board issues.  She understands the numbers and the in’s and out’s better than anyone else in town, not including current board members.( O.K. maybe she even understands it better than a couple of them.)

I am beginning to think she understands the budgets better than the administrators.

I would like to know WHY THE ADMINISTRATION is allowed to disrespect the school board members like they have and continue to do.

IF you follow Melissa’s reports , or have sat in on a meeting, or are familiar with administration , MOST people who hold a job and have dead lines to meet or get canned.   MOST of  us wonder why the school board has to ask NUMEROUS times for reports or SURVEYS about why people are leaving the district.

The board has asked many times for different reports from administration..  and NEVER gotten them.

HOW is it administration continues to  be allowed to not turn in what is really their assignment by the board?     SHOULD our students not turn in home work if they do not feel it is necessary?

The attitude shown by our administrators towards the school board is just plain DISRESPECTFUL.

Should our children treat teacher’s and administrators the way the administrators have treated members of the board?     IF kids treated them like they treated the board there would be a flood of detentions for disrespect.

WHY IS administration so afraid to talk about the budget of extra curricular and really if Scott Everson does not have any thing more intelligent to say than ” equal is not necessarily fair.” he should probably just sit there and be quite.

So the board is not allowed to ask simple questions with out a dodge and duck answer&  attitude from the administration.

READ Melissa’s article’s in this week’s REVIEW.       I will tell you the article on the budget is very informative. ..  nothing beats being there but Melissa’s article makes one feel as though they are, very informative.

Please also read the 2nd article on Co and extra curricular activities and contracts.
