Did you go to see the Addams family ?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on May 6, 2014 by chasinthenews

I have only heard, wonderful positive things , and the kids did a fantastic job.   It amazes me for the size of Evansville and truly how little Evansville has to offer.

How time after time they pull off and put on wonderful musicals.  I have said for years that drama/theatre group/bands/art students are some of the most talented around Evansville.

It is the strongest pull to Evansville .

Congratulations to all who participated,  and Congratulations to all who got to go.  Who were lucky enough to get tickets.

A thank you to all who worked behind the scenes to make this possible.

Public schools would be forced to close under bill | Education – Channel3000.com

Some of these things are already built into the federal guidelines.  Except in the federal guidelines a school would have to close, and re-open after being taken over by the state.
I do not think the federal guide liens say any thing about charter schools.

Divide up any referendum

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on January 28, 2014 by chasinthenews

I hope if this referendum does come to be that they divide it up.    It would be a mistake to lump every thing together in one large sum of money and think Evansville residents are going to fall for it.

Divide it up into separate questions.

Option 1

I support the following vote yes to _____________ amount for updating computers technology,  teacher pay&benefits,  purchasing curriculum , and 4k and renovating the junior high.

Option 2

I support and vote yes in spending ______________ for 4k.

Option 3

I support spending _________________for building/renovating the junior high and I also support 4k.

Option 4

and so on…..

As they found out with the high school it was easier to get people to vote yes when options were given.

This way when/if it fails they can also see exactly where the numbers are at for and against different items.

IF this goes to referendum  I really do not see this passing , at the very least not at a first time around.

These are very wise young people.  Evansville could use some kids like this at the Junior High and High school level.

” WE get these kids ready for college.” Nothing Less Than 3.0– Proud Mom Moment

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , on November 20, 2013 by chasinthenews

Please excuse me as I continue to have my very proud MOM moment!!!!  My son who is a freshman at Madison West has made the Madison West basketball team!!!   This is a big accomplishment and one to be proud of.   There were  around 60 kids who tried out, and in the end he made the team!    But he has always worked to get better in this sport, and has improved every year he has played.

We had our first parents basketball meeting last night.   I am  SO super impressed with the way the athletic program is run at West.   During last night’s meeting there was more talk about expectations for its players than really any talk about basketball.    They expect ALL their players to keep up a 3.0 average, which they monitor.   IF a player does not have a 3.0 they are required to attend tutoring sessions .   They expect nothing but exemplary behavior from their players on and off the court.

Several times I heard ” We get these kids ready for college.”    There was such a focus on academics it was so nice to hear.   They pointed out that Madison West is in one of the toughest divisions in the state , and it takes kids that are not only good with the basketball , but kids who are just as academically skilled.

These coaches realize these kids are going to need something for life after high school.

The athletes at Madison West are definitely held to a higher standard than what the athletic dept at Evansville requires.

Evansville could stand to take some lessons from them with their anemic requirement of only maintaining a 1.5 g.p.a. to play sports.   Pathetic.
